Because of Ethereal’s renowned ability to create a sequel-like story for well-known IP’s, our company was enlisted for this honor. Moderately adding new plot, while staying true to the original movie, Ethereal crafted a dark ride based on animatronics and sound systems. This Moana ride in Japan, set several years after the original, tells the story of an older Moana as the chief of her tribe. After sailing into the ocean, the tribe encounters a treacherous storm, causing widespread chaos and panic. With her power to control the seas and communicate with the “gods”, Moana saves the day, ending the ride as a typical protagonist winning the battle. The ride finishes with a steep drop, likely eliciting screams throughout.
